Frisco Holiday Events: What Ran and What to Check

Around DFW · 3 min read · By the American Eagle Builders team

Frisco holiday events are a mix of free tree lightings, light shows and family evenings that start in mid-November and run into January. This guide follows Visit Frisco’s 2025 listings, and 2026 dates were not yet posted on November 1.

The short answer

  • Visit Frisco listed Christmas in the Square from November 21, 2025 into January 2026.
  • The Cowboys Christmas Extravaganza ran on Fridays and Saturdays at The Star in 2025.
  • 2026 dates were not yet posted on November 1, so check Visit Frisco before you plan an evening.
  • North Texas December weather can swing quickly, so watch the forecast and dress in layers.
  • A patio cover suits year-round use, not a few holiday evenings.

Frisco’s holiday calendar fills quickly, with a tree lighting or light show nearly every weekend between mid-November and early January. The most recent full lineup is the 2025 season, listed below. Many of the same events return each year, but nothing guarantees it, so use this as a planning pattern and confirm dates with the organizers.

What were the main Frisco holiday events in 2025?

Visit Frisco’s holiday guide, posted in early November 2025, listed several anchor events. Christmas in the Square ran from November 21, 2025 into January 2026. The Cowboys Christmas Extravaganza played Fridays and Saturdays at The Star through December 20. The city’s Merry Main Street party was on December 6.

The Extravaganza opens with the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders and then lights the 67-foot LED tree at The Star, with a Cowboys legend doing the honors. That description comes from the Cowboys and from Visit Frisco’s guide. Prices for ticketed extras are not listed here, because they change and belong to the organizers.

The same guide listed smaller options as well. The Light Park at Riders Field ran daily from November 7, 2025 to January 4, 2026, Stonebriar Centre offered photos with Santa, and PGA Frisco hosted tree lightings and holiday evenings on several dates. Those are good back-ups when a cold snap or a crowded night changes your plans.

Are the Frisco holiday events the same in 2026?

Not yet confirmed. As of November 1, 2026, Visit Frisco’s home page named Christmas in the Square, The Star and Merry Main Street but gave no dates. Event organizers often keep a similar calendar from year to year, though nothing guarantees it.

So treat the table above as a pattern, not a schedule. Check Visit Frisco for the current lineup and the organizers for times. Dates, start times and what is free can change from one season to the next.

How should you plan around North Texas winter weather?

Watch the forecast, not the calendar. North Texas December weather can go from mild to a hard freeze within a day, as the December 2022 freeze reminded many of us. Outdoor shows run in the cold, so dress in layers and expect crowds in the evening.

The National Weather Service Fort Worth office posts forecasts for the area. If you drive in from Plano, Dallas or Arlington, check the roads as well as the weather. Our post on Christmas in Color at NRH2O covers a different holiday outing in Tarrant County.

Should you build something at home for holiday hosting?

Only if you will use it past December. A holiday movie night or tree-lighting party at home needs a dry spot, a few chairs and good light, and a patio cover can provide the dry spot. It does not heat the space, and a few cold evenings rarely justify a build.

If you already have a covered patio, string lights and a blanket basket go a long way. Any heater near a cover or pergola should be used exactly as its maker says about clearances. If you are weighing a bigger project, start with our patio covers page and our post on patio cover lighting ideas. Frisco’s residential permit page is where to check whether a new structure needs approval. Questions we get asked about this

Visit Frisco’s 2025 guide listed Christmas in the Square, the Cowboys Christmas Extravaganza at The Star, a tree lighting at Kaleidoscope Park and the city’s Merry Main Street party, plus many smaller events. The 2026 dates had not been posted, so check Visit Frisco for the current lineup.

In 2025 it ran from November 21 into January 5, 2026, with a nightly show at 6 p.m., according to Visit Frisco. The 2026 dates had not been posted on November 1. Check Visit Frisco or the organizer before you go, because start dates and show times can change.

The show itself was listed as free and open to the public in 2025, held on Fridays and Saturdays at The Star in Frisco. Separate extras such as tours may cost money, so confirm prices with the organizer. Check the Cowboys or Visit Frisco for 2026 details.

Dress in layers, since North Texas December evenings can turn cold quickly, and wear shoes you can stand in. Check the forecast on the day, arrive early for popular shows and confirm start times with the organizer. Some events are free, but parking and extras may cost money.

No. A few evenings of hosting rarely justify building anything. A patio cover is worth considering if you will use the space across the seasons. It gives shade and shelter from rain, but it will not heat the space, so a cold night still needs a plan.
