What comes with our 400 Series Windows
Most Popular
It is the Andersen line for homes where the windows need to match wood trim inside, without taking on the upkeep of a wood exterior in Texas sun.
Among the Andersen lines, the 400 Series sits between the 100 Series (composite frame, no wood inside) and the A and E Series (more style and color range, higher cost). For most brick homes in Dallas, Collin, Denton and Tarrant counties it gives the best balance of looks, durability and price, which is why so many customers end up here.
- Real wood interior you can stain or paint to match your trim
- Protective exterior cladding stands up to sun and storms
- Wide range of standard sizes and styles
Installing and caring for 400 Series Windows
It comes in the common styles: double-hung, casement, awning, gliding and picture units, so one line can cover the whole house.
A 400 Series install adds one step the 100 Series doesn’t have: the wood interior. We remove the old window, check the opening for rot and square, set and flash the new unit, then fit the interior trim so it lines up with the wood frame. If you ordered unfinished interiors, the wood gets stained or painted after we’re done, and we’ll talk through who does that and when so the finish isn’t rushed.
With the 400 Series, cost follows the number and size of openings, the mix of styles (a house of casements prices differently from one of double-hungs), interior finish (prefinished or bare wood), exterior color, glass and grille options. Hidden rot in the framing is the other variable, and we price it separately when we find it.
400 Series Windows: common questions
The 400 Series is wood inside, vinyl-clad outside: you get a paintable or stainable interior that matches trim, with a weatherproof exterior that never needs painting. In DFW the cladding is doing the real work, and the wood stays on the conditioned, indoor side.
On average our installation teams complete window installations within 2 to 4 days once your windows arrive. Custom-built windows take time to manufacture after measuring.
Customers regularly report noticeably lower summer cooling costs and a quieter house. Savings depend on what you’re replacing. Single-pane aluminum windows show the biggest change.
Yes. Where your city requires one, we file it and deal with the inspection.
The wood needs a finish to protect it. You can order it prefinished or have it stained or painted to match your trim. We’ll talk through which makes sense for your rooms.
Wash it with mild soap and water, keep the weep holes clear, and check the caulk line around the frame once a year. The cladding does not need paint.
Before You Commit to 400 Series Windows
- Decide how the wood is finished. The interior is real wood, so choose the stain or paint to match your trim, and whether it arrives prefinished or is finished on site.
- Pick the operating style room by room. Double-hung suits traditional elevations; casements open fully for air and seal tightly when closed. One house can use both.
- Match the grilles to the elevation. Grille patterns change how a window reads from the street, so they follow the style of the house rather than a single default.
