Replacement Windows Built for Texas Heat

A replacement window is a new window made to fit an existing opening, installed in place of one that has worn out or stopped sealing. Ours are custom-measured and professionally installed, and they cut cooling costs, quiet the road outside and make the whole house look newer. We carry the full Andersen line, and American Eagle Builders is a certified Andersen contractor for windows and doors.

What is a replacement window?

A replacement window is a new window made to fit an existing opening, so the old unit comes out and the wall around it mostly stays as it is. It is the usual choice when a window has fogged, drafts, sticks or no longer locks well, and the frame around it is still sound.

In North Texas the choice turns mostly on sun and movement. West and south walls take the most heat, so the glass rating on those walls matters more than on a shaded side. Houses on clay can shift a little with the seasons, which is why each opening gets measured on its own rather than copied from the one beside it. American Eagle Builders installs four Andersen lines, and the right one depends on the look you want, the frame material and how the opening is shaped. If only one part of a window has failed, a repair may be the better answer, and we will say so.

How do the Andersen series compare?

The 100 Series (fibrex composite) is a fit for getting the most window for the budget. The 400 Series (wood interior, vinyl-clad exterior) is a fit for the traditional look most homeowners want. The A-Series (wood interior, fiberglass-clad exterior) is a fit for matching a specific architectural style with correct proportions and hardware. The E-Series (wood interior, aluminum-clad exterior) is a fit for large openings, arches and custom shapes. The table has the detail.

Before You Commit to New Windows

  • Match the series to the house. Four Andersen lines cover most situations, from replacing every window at once to matching one awkward architectural opening. The differences are real, and they are worth ten minutes.
  • Ask what happens at the opening. Flashing and sealing decide whether a wall stays dry. A good window fitted badly leaks exactly like a bad one.
  • Count the openings. Whole-house replacement usually costs less per opening than doing a few at a time, and it leaves the exterior looking deliberate rather than patched.

How a Window Project Runs

  1. 1

    A free measure and estimate

Every opening is measured individually, because a house rarely has two identical ones. You see the series options side by side and get a firm written estimate.

  2. 2

    Built to your openings

Andersen builds the units to those measurements, so the installers are not shimming a stock size into a hole it does not fit.

  3. 3

    Installed and sealed

Our own crews set, flash and seal each unit, then trim inside and out.

  4. 4

    Walkthrough and warranty

We check operation and locks on every window with you, clean up, and hand over the manufacturer warranty alongside ours on the installation.

Windows: common questions

Fibrex is Andersen’s composite: reclaimed wood fiber bound in polymer. It holds its shape in Texas heat better than vinyl, which softens and can bow on a wide west-facing opening, and it lets the frame be narrower for the same strength, so you get more glass and less frame.

A replacement window is made to fit the existing frame opening, so the siding, trim and inside walls stay as they are. A new construction window has a nailing flange and goes in with the frame opened down to the studs, which means siding and trim work around every window. Replacement is the usual choice when the frames are sound. Rotted or out-of-square frames are the reason to open the wall, and we check that at the estimate.

On average our installation teams complete window installations within 2 to 4 days once your windows arrive. Custom-built windows take time to manufacture after measuring.

Customers regularly report noticeably lower summer cooling costs and a quieter house. Savings depend on what you’re replacing. Single-pane aluminum windows show the biggest change.

Yes. Where your city requires one, we file it and deal with the inspection.

Homeowners replacing most or all of their windows who want a durable, no-paint frame at a sensible price, and who are happy with a finished interior instead of stainable wood. Rental and resale homes are a common fit too.

What drives the cost of new windows?

Two estimates for the same house can differ a lot, and usually for a reason you can check.

  • The series and frame. A composite frame, a wood interior and a custom shape are not the same product.
  • The glass. Better glass for hot, sunny walls costs more, and it may only be worth it on those walls.
  • How many openings, and which ones. A whole-house job usually costs less per opening than doing a few at a time.
  • Size and shape. Tall, wide, arched or second-story windows take more material and more work.
  • What is behind the old window. Rot, water damage or an out-of-square opening has to be fixed before the new unit goes in.

We do not publish a price list, because these change the number more than the product does. The free in-home estimate puts your numbers in writing.
